American Civil War is finally over

Some things need time. I do not know when this road got its name, but it was after the end of the American Civil War in 1865. In Greenwich, Connecticut, a road was named "Hooker Lane" during the last hundred years. And in a Northern state it can only be named for "Fighting" Joe Hooker, the commander of the Army of the Potomac for a few months. As commander he lost the battle of Chancellorsville in Virginia in which "Stonewall" Jackson was wounded (he died later of pneunomia). But Hooker lost his nerves in the battle and his command soon after. But the road was named after Thomas Hooker, a clergyman.
Now the people living in "Hooker Lane" would like to change the road's name into "Stonebrook Lane". Others had too often laughed about the "Whore Lane". The city council has not decided yet. But let's get back to "Hooker". This name for prostitutes can be related to our Civil War Genral Joe Hooker. He wanted his men to be happy and encouraged whores to stay with his troops. The women were soon named "Hookers".

Apparently there is a Dick St. in Los Angeles and residents are trying to get the name changed too.
